Australian migration update: South Australia opens limited 2026–27 skilled migration ROIs

What changed

South Australia's General Skilled Migration Program is now accepting Registrations of Interest (ROIs) for onshore candidates. This intake is specifically for those living and working in South Australia with visas expiring by 31 January 2027.

Offshore candidates will continue to be invited directly from their SkillSelect Expression of Interest (EOI) submissions.

Who may be affected

This update primarily affects skilled migrants living and working in South Australia whose current visas are due to expire by 31 January 2027. Offshore skilled migration candidates are also affected, as they will continue to be invited directly from SkillSelect EOIs without needing to submit an ROI.

When it takes effect

Registrations of Interest are now open for individuals whose current visas are due to expire by 31 January 2027. This applies to the 2026-27 General Skilled Migration program.

What action may be required

Onshore candidates whose visas expire by 31 January 2027 and who are living and working in South Australia may need to lodge a Registration of Interest. All applicants, both onshore and offshore, must have a current Expression of Interest lodged in SkillSelect.
