Your privacy rights and how to request deletion of your personal data
At OzPath, we respect your privacy and your right to control your personal information. This page explains how you can request the deletion of your personal data from our systems, what types of data will be deleted, and the timeframe for completing your request.
OzPath is a mobile application designed to help international students in Australia organise their 485 Temporary Graduate Visa application. As part of our commitment to data protection and compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles, we provide clear and accessible ways for you to delete your data.
How to Request Data Deletion
You have two convenient methods to request deletion of your personal data from OzPath:
Method 1: Delete Your Account Through the Mobile App
The fastest and most convenient way to delete your data is directly through the OzPath mobile application. This option is available to all users at any time.
Method 2: Request Deletion via Email
If you prefer, or if you no longer have access to the mobile app, you can request data deletion by contacting our support team directly via email.

When you request data deletion, the following types of personal information will be permanently removed from our active systems:
- Account Information Your name, email address, phone number, password, and authentication credentials (including Google Sign-in and Sign in with Apple data).
- Profile Data Your visa stream selection, study preferences, notification preferences, and relevant dates you have entered.
- Document Information Any documents you have uploaded for translation services, including scanned copies and file metadata.
- Communication Records Your chat history with our AI-powered assistant (OzPal), including questions asked and responses received.
- Translation Records Details of translation orders, document submissions, and completed translation files.
- Application Data Checklist responses, questionnaire answers, completion status, and progress tracking information.
- Usage Data Device information, session logs, application interaction data, and timestamps associated with your account.
- Preference Settings Notification preferences, reminder settings, and in-app configuration choices.
Important Note About Data Retention
Some data may be retained temporarily for specific legal and business purposes, as required by Australian law and our contractual obligations. This includes:
- Transaction records and payment history for financial auditing and tax compliance purposes (retained for up to 7 years as required by Australian tax law).
- Records necessary for fraud prevention, security investigations, or legal proceedings.
- Anonymised or de-identified data used for analytics and service improvement (this data cannot be linked back to you).
- Backup copies of deleted data may persist in our secure backup systems for up to 6 months, after which they will be permanently purged.
Any retained data is used solely for the purposes stated above and is not used for marketing, service delivery, or any other purpose.
Timeframe for Data Deletion
Expected Processing Time
Data deletion requests will be fulfilled within 30 days from the date we receive and verify your request. In most cases, deletion is completed much sooner.
The Data Deletion Process
- Immediate action: Once you submit a deletion request (either in-app or via email), the data removal process begins immediately.
- Active database removal: Your personal information is removed from our active databases within 5 business days.
- Third-party notifications: We notify our service providers (such as NAATI-certified translators) to delete any copies of your documents they may hold. Translators are contractually required to comply within 30 days.
- Backup systems: While your data is immediately flagged for deletion, encrypted copies may remain in our backup systems for up to 6 months before being permanently purged during routine backup cycles.
- Confirmation: You will receive an email confirmation once your data has been successfully deleted from our active systems.
Please note that during the deletion process, your account will become inaccessible and you will not be able to use OzPath services. If you change your mind and wish to use OzPath again in the future, you will need to create a new account.

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Request access to your personal information
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion of your personal information (as outlined on this page)
- Receive a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used format
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe your privacy rights have been violated
